July 2018 marks 7 years since Cathy first released Stitchmastery, so we are celebrating our 7th anniversary and happily the associated material for 7th anniversaries is WOOL! So we have a woolly (or at least, yarny) community project in mind – a mitten knit and/or design along.
Cathy has designed a mitten pattern, which you can download here as a free pdf and we’ll be hosting a knit-along in the Stitchmastery Ravelry group and on Instagram with hashtag #StitchmasteryIs7. There will be some prizes for finished objects and for helpful posts.
We’re also encouraging knitters and designers to try out Stitchmastery by providing the mitten template chart as a .knt2 file and welcoming everyone to come up with their own design. This will be accompanied by some new tutorials and tips. We’ll have prizes for this too, and hope that taking part, asking questions and sharing progress will create a fun chance for people to get to grips with Stitchmastery for the first time (though we’ll be very happy to see designs from experienced users too!). You can share photos/images of the design you’ve come up with or a finished object photo of a knitted pair.
If you don’t have Stitchmastery already, you can download the demo and open the .knt2 file to play around with a new design. The demo version does not support saving or exporting files, so if you wish to save your design, you’ll need to purchase an activation key and activate the full program via the Tools menu. That will allow you to export the chart and written instructions, which could become the main building-blocks for your first self-published design!
The knit/design along starts today, and will round up at the end of October.
To download the pattern PDF or working chart file (.knt2) sign up to our newsletter: Join our Newsletter.
If think you are registered to the newsletter already and haven’t received the newsletter about this, please check what happens when you try to register – if you forgot to update your profile before our GDPR deadline you may have been unsubscribed. If it says you are already on the ilst, rather than asking you to confirm your email address, please check for the email in your junk/spam folder and if no sign please email hannah [at] knitmastery.com and we’ll make sure the email reaches you safely.
I signed up for the newsletter but cannot down load the pattern for the 2018 Anniversary mittens
Hello Janice, can you let us know a bit more about what’s happening?
How it should work is that when you sign up for the newsletter, you receive a Welcome email which contains a link to the pattern. When you click that, you’ll come to a page on our website and can click on a link to download the pattern – depending on your computer/device & internet browser, it may open as a PDF in your browser window, or a dialogue box might open asking you whether you want to open or save the file. Alternatively, you might need to right click on the link to access the “Save As” option.
If you’ve done all this and can’t find the file, the most likely place it will be saved is your Downloads folder, or a temp folder where your other downloads go – if you use your computer’s search function to look for “anniversary mittens” this should bring up the location of the file.
If this does not help, please email me hannah [at] knitmastery.com and let me know what your set up is, and I’ll send more guidance or look into why the Welcome email hasn’t arrived, if that’s the case.
I received the email that says I should confirm the subscription, but then nothing happened. I did not receive a link to the pattern or a a welcome email. Thank you for sending the pattern to my email
Thanks for letting me know. I’ve checked the welcome email and it seems to be sending as normal, so I’m not sure where yours has ended up! I’ll try sending you our last newsletter directly from Mailchimp and see if that opens the line of communication. It might be worth adding info {at} stitchmastery.com to your address book or contacts, to let your email filters know you do want to receive email from us. Hope you enjoy the mittens!
Hi, I didn’t get the link neither ? where can I find it ?
Hello Dana, I just looked at your account on our newsletter system and it looks as though you have since got it? Please let me know if not at Hannah [at] knitmastery.com and I will send you the link directly.
All the best,
Hannah
